I am all packed and waiting for my sister, who is currently stuck on the M6 to come and pick me up to take me home for the remainder of the summer holiday. On Thursday I finished my placement. I have enjoyed the time at the college but have to say I was quite happy to get to the end and I am looking forward to getting back to uni and starting my final year as a student.
I will miss all the guys at work, they have made the job very easy to get into and they were all fun to work with. After work on Thursday we went out for a couple drinks to celebrate us leaving. Needless to say the couple drinks lead to me getting in at 1am after consuming far more than a couple of drinks. It was a fantastic night out though, my best in a long time and it has made me start missing the guys already. A good thing about the college being quite close to uni is that I can come back and visit next year which I definitely will do.
So, my year in Widnes has been worth it. The placement has been great, I have learned a lot and I have definitely grown as a person more. My confidence, not only in my ability to do the job but also in myself has grown immensely. For that alone, this year was worth it, the additions I have to put on my CV is a bonus.

When working in retail I always used to be annoyed by Monday to Friday workers complaining about the weekend going so fast. I always thought that they should be lucky they get the weekend off. Try working in retail, they would have you working Christmas Day if they could get away with it.
So, three weeks into working *normal hours* I am already finding myself utter that thought “Where has the weekend gone?” I am sure it was only last night that I got home from work looking forward to being able to have a lay in in the morning… but no, that was the day before. I have had both my lay ins and now I have to come to terms with the fact that I have to be getting up at 7am tomorrow morning.
Its not that bad really, I am actually finding it a lot easier to get up in the morning than I thought I would. I am thinking this is due to the fact that I actually like my job and (I know, I must be mad) actually want to go to work. Its such a change after a lifetime in retail hell to actually be doing something that interests you and where you have about 10 other people all interested in what you are interested in and where you can sit around and make silly idle chit chat about whatever you fancy (while doing work of course
).
Enrolment starts tomorrow so I need to be bright and alert to help set up loads of PC’s first thing. Not a hard job granted, but it just makes it easier to cope with if you are at least half awake.
Adam West as Batman beats all comers every time in my book.
Not at all, makes you completely normal.
Wow! Love it!
I don't even know what that is. Does that make me insane? .-
It looks fabulous!! Love it
