Considering the halls I currently reside in are ones that are allocated to first year students they are surprisingly quiet.
It is a fairly old building though so I imagine it has thicker walls than some of the more modern halls I am used to but even then it is still silent. I am used to halls having music playing well into the night, drunken students running up and down the corridors banging on your flat door and students generally being students… not that I have ever done these things of course *ahem*.
Besides the hole on my wall, stains on my carpet and general crudiness of the kitchen (it would be much better if there was somewhere to sit and relax, but there is only a little table and 3 uncomfortable chairs, so not the most welcoming of kitchens) it isn’t turning out too bad a place to be living. Add to that the fab location to the shops and pubs and the less than 10 minute walk to uni or the library it is perfect.
The older building has its quirks too and it looks nicer than your run of the mill, modern halls. And, rather oddly (well, I find it odd) on our floor there is an emergency access lift to the railway that runs underneath the halls. Must remember that if I am ever late for a train.
Just when we were all trying to get over the end of Harry Potter, the wonderful JK Rowling has announced that she “probably will” be writing that encyclopaedia that she has been hinting at for years to use up all the back story that she has on characters:
In her first tell-all interview since the release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,†J.K. Rowling told TODAY’s Meredith Vieira she “probably will” publish a Potter encyclopedia, promising many more details about her beloved characters and the fate of the wizarding world beyond the few clues provided in the seventh book’s epilogue.
“I suppose I have (started) because the raw material is all in my notes,†Rowling said.
I am definitely one happy Potter fan, I don’t care how long it takes her to release it, just the fact that she is is good enough for me! Maybe I should go and start a queue outside Waterstones now…
This post is my thoughts on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. If you are going to read it but have not done so yet or have not finished it, please do not read this post.
If you have read it and want to share your thoughts please do so in these comments. I would love to hear what you all thought of it.
The whole world* is currently going crazy for a boy named Harry Potter, me included.
Last week we had the film – which I have now seen and I have declared it the best one so far. Obviously loads has been cut, after all condensing 766 pages** into 2 hours 20 minutes*** must be a task in itself. However, I do feel that they have left in all the important bits. I always try to view the films as separate to the books which is why I guess I enjoy the films so much. It would have been nice for them to introduce Peeves into the films just so we could have seen the salute to the twins when they left the school but I can understand why they missed him out. I am going to have to go and watch it again and I am already looking forward to the DVD release and all the deleted scenes.
And now in a little over 12 hours**** I will have my hand on Deathly Hallows. To anyone that is thinking “grow up, its only a book” well I have two words for you… but I am far too polite to type them out, but I mean them, oh yes I do. It is not a good idea to disagree with a Harry Potter fan, just think of all the spells we have learned, we need someone to practice on.
If you are a Harry Potter fan you will no doubt already be aware of the fact that the title of book seven has been announced.Â
I won’t put the title on here, if you want to find out either go to the above article or to JK Rowling’s site, click on the rubber and figure it out yourself.Â
If you are a Richard Hammond fan you will no doubt be interested in this, be sure to check out the video and also put Rossy in your diaries for tomorrow night – 10.35pm BBC 1! It’s going to be good!Â
And don’t forget the other essential Christmas viewing… no not the queen’s speech! No, Christmas Day, BBC 1, 7PM. I don’t need to say what it is, if you don’t already know then you will never understand.Â
Just in case I don’t get round to coming back on here before the big day can i please wish all my friends and visitors to this site a very merry Christmas. Have a mince pie on me xxxÂ
Any readers of the Leaky Cauldron or listeners of Pottercast will probably be familiar with this little cutie. I found this while waisting time on YouTube and thought I would share it with you all.
Edit – for some reason I can’t get the video to show up, so you will have to go here to watch instead. Sorry!
Adam West as Batman beats all comers every time in my book.

Wow! Love it!
I don't even know what that is. Does that make me insane? .-
