Is it? It can’t be…

Oct1110:09 pm

Yes it is, it’s a post! OK, now don’t all die with shock, please don’t I would feel too guilty.

I have been very bad at keeping you up to date recently, and I don’t even want to mention the 100 things… I have been quite busy sorting my CV out and starting to look for placements for next year. I have found some interesting leads and have even applied for a couple already! So hopefully something good will turn up. I have 2 or three locations on mind but don’t really mind where I go for the year (as long as its not close enough to home to mean it would be silly that I didn’t live at home for the year).

The finding of a placement made me realise I would have to do something I have never done in the past, something that will mean I am becoming a proper adult…. buy a suit! ARGH! I decided I had better not go to interviews in jeans so decided to be good and splash out. Saying that it only cost £70 so I think it will be £70 well spent (and that was before student discount)!

Elsewhere life is good, I am really enjoying my course which *touch wood* bodes well for me still liking it when I finish. When at Derby I was already bored of the course and would quite happily give up studying for a night out, now its the other way round…. within limits of course, everyone needs to go out and have fun now and then but once a week is a whole lot different to hmm… 3-4 (if not more) nights a week while I was at Derby.

In other news I was voted student rep for my course. This doesn’t involve too much time, I just have to make sure everyone is OK, and be there if they need someone other than the lecturers to talk to. Fine with me, I like solving other peoples problems… so much easier than sorting your own out. It’s an easy job to do and looks really good on your CV so I’m happy! I actually thought being the only girl on the course would mean I didn’t get it but i was wrong!

Apart from that all I have to say is that IT’S MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!!!!! WOO! I am actually looking forward to it this year, I have a little pile of cards… piling up and I think I am being extremely good as I haven’t opened any yet. I’ll wait till 00:01 tonight instead ;) hehe, only joking, one thing about being away from home is that all you get for your birthday is money in your card (I’m not complaining) but its nice to be able to open things on your birthday so I am saving my cards for that.

We are of out tomorrow night to China Town for food and then out on the town! Should be a good night.

Recipe For Disaster

May2010:34 am

Take 1 laptop,
Add 1 Sarah using said laptop
Take note of glass of irn bru placed at least 2 feet away.

Add to the mix two over excited cats;
Marvel at how one of them manages to knock the irn bru with such force it lands on top of laptop;

Add one terrified scream from Sarah and a frantic few minutes trying to get all irn bru off before damage is done.

Wait a couple of hours to turn laptop on and find out the keyboard is fooked.

Decide to be a daredevil and take laptop apart. What the hell, Spillage isn’t covered by the waranty so I have nothing too loose.

Realise Laptop assembly is really very easy, different to a desktop of course but alright.

Leave laptop peices to dry out over night and reasmble following morning;

Result: One fully working laptop! YEY!

Turkey Twizzlers

Mar2911:23 pm

I have been meaning to post this for the past few days but always forget….doh!

Turkey twizzler’s, brought to the news by the wonderful Jamies School Dinners have been reported on BBC news to have increased in sales in February compared to the same month last year.

The episode of school dinners that outed twizzler’s was either early March or very late February so I can’t see how Bernard Matthews can claim that it has not affected the sales. I would have thought that March’s sales would have been a better indicator for how the program has affected sales.

However, being the ASDA girl I am I have noticed a difference in trolley content.

Before the series started we used to sell Twizzler’s by the lorry full. The majority of families with young children would have at least one bag in their shopping, along with all the other similar foods that there are on the market. Since the episode though our sales of twizzler’s have drastically reduced. I can’t actually recall selling any since then; I probably have sold some but am pretty certain it’s nowhere near the amount that I used to sell.

Hopefully with parent’s eyes being opened to what exactly is in the food they will think twice about what they give their kids. With that and the news that the government (whether its a ploy to gain votes or not) are planning to raise the budget for school dinners maybe this is the start of something better.
